Jason flinches away from his touch and shrugs his shoulders. “I don’t care if you hate me,” he says, and he can’t even tell if he’s lying. It was definitely true before, he knows. He wanted Bruce to hate the person he had become because it was just one more way that Jason’s death had affected him. He needed that proof that Bruce had loved him before, enough to hate him now for no longer being that kid.
Dick’s hand drops back down to his side. “I know. But we don’t, anyway. I don’t.”
Jason hopes this isn’t another fucking dream.

Though despite his best efforts, his children also have an important role to play in the battle for Gotham's soul-- one son trying to mend the wounds of his family, another trying to find his place in the family, and the third lost son trying to find his way back home.

"I can get rid of me for you..." Jason said, his voice trembling, but beneath his tear-filled eyes was a smile, a crazy giggle.
"JASON!" Dick took a step forward the moment he noticed the gun.
"DON'T—" said Jason, gripping the gun's barrel more tightly. "Today.. you will become a killer, Batman.. I will take you down with me. When I die, you will lose your essence too. You will face the consequences of the moral order you established from the beginning. I don't care about the criminals you didn't kill to avoid guilt, but you will watch my brain splatter—"

As Jason plots his revenge on Bruce, he puts together a detailed schedule of his day-to-day activities, which is always consistent, until one day he deviates. Following him, Jason discovers him standing in the cemetery, speaking to his grave.
---“I...haven't visited recently,” he remarked softly. “I’m sorry.” Jason’s eyes narrowed in confusion, hearing not only his apology, but the gentle tone of it. Bruce’s thumb swiped in circles around the leather cover of the book he held firmly in his hands. “I was going to, like usual,” he confessed. “But I- I called Tim by your name, again."
Again? Jason could feel his heart thudding a little harder as he leaned closer, trying to hear his father’s words, which were quiet, clearly meant and thought to be private between him and the dead.
“Alfred rebuked me for it and said I needed to try to move on,” he added, pausing to swallow the lump in his throat. “I don’t think Alfred’s ever lost his son, though, because if he had, he would know I can’t.”
