In the blank space left by the Meng Po soup, Zhou Zishu kept on discovering pieces of his past like stones rolling along the bed of a stream. He could fish a hand in and pick them out, but they were only fragments broken apart. Sometimes it wasn't even a memory but a sudden realisation, knowledge that came from the ether which he then seemed to have known all along.

Fantastic story in which ZZS and HY go to ghost valley and set up shop down with the hoi poloi in the valley -- he kills a head-of-house and takes over their little farming clan -- rather than with the powerful. However, ZZS's power and strange morality rise to the top, of course, and he cannot play house down there for too long before 'Daifu' (in a mask) starts coming by every day to pester him, lob compliments and poetry, and shamelessly offer himself on a platter. The people in the 'family' that ZZS takes over are delightful OCs, and the ZZS/WKZ dynamic is both lovely and entertaining.
PART 2 follows the OC xiao-yu, who was the previous family head's bedslave, through his journey of recovery and eventually, sexual exploration featuring our own han ying (including HY's submissive inclinations).
PART 3 has wwx laying out his plan and zzs trying to demonstrate (subtly) that the ghosts of the valley are actually human, too.
PART 4 is when WKZ and ZZS leave the Valley to enact WKZ's revenge on the jainghu of the human world. It's a very interesting melange of POV, including Chengling's father and Gao Chong, just... everybody. The point here is that once you remove the human skin, what's underneath can be a monster just as much as a Ghost. Very quick read, I just devoured it. Lovely.
