It happens like this: Colonnello is a nice guy.
That's probably not true. He's friends with Reborn so Skull's pretty sure he can be an asshole too, but the important thing is that it's not his default state, which makes him a saint compared to his fellow Arcobaleno. And yes, Skull does think they should be ashamed of it, because what kind of low ass bar is that?
But most importantly, Colonnello is nice with him, so of course Skull lays his claim on him first before stealing him away.

There's a round of immature snickers around the table that Skull honestly can't find fault in since even Verde, Viper, and Fon join in.

But, for once, Skull is nowhere near ready to back down.
"Well if my mom doesn't count, then your mom probably doesn't either huh?" Skull bats his lashes at Colonello. "So you should probably tell her to stop calling me then."

But, all of that aside, there is, Reborn has to grudgingly admit, just one pesky little detail that keeps Skull from being Reborn’s perfect darling.
It’s an insignificant issue in the long run though, barely even worth mentioning really.
But it is something Reborn will have to handle sooner rather than later now that he has the chance so that all of his other plans can fall smoothly into place.

Playing weak has a lot of benefits, especially when it lets him slip from scrutiny while working with mafioso. Skull's hands have been drenched in blood by the mafia far longer than the Arcobaleno know him.
And he's set on keeping it that way.
He's been burnt by the mafia far too many times.
Harmony? Bonds? Please. How can you form bonds when it's all pretend?

Unfortunately for Skull, Colonnello runs therapy sessions like military drills, Reborn can and will shoot till things go his way, Viper's deadset on wringing him financially dry, Fon bent on teaching him how to properly appreciate tea, Lal's grip is iron-clad, Verde's new science church is oddly skull-shaped, and Luce just wants to finish her mission and save the world. Permanently.
Perhaps the fool is really Skull, for thinking the Arcobaleno will let him go after all their years together.
