But does it play chess? While chess is hardly DOOM, there still are some constraints on actually moving things around without Java or JavaScript (though gifbot has some thoughts on it that might render such possible).
I can't [yet] offer any definite way to actively play chess on AO3, and so, in lieu of such, I offer you a presentation of 256 (or technically 512, under rotation [or even 1,024 if the board colors are ignored]) preconfigured static-display chess puzzles (with randomly chosen black or white to move), each configuration being hardcoded with the selection of which to display being dynamically random-per-refresh using only HTML and CSS, no offsite Java or JavaScript or anything else involved.
There are also some secret messages from the BBEG, upon
:hoveron desktop Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, and TOR [in a WIN 11 environment], or upon:touchon iPhone Safari (Android Chrome... is really iffy, because Android : it has worked for me, but has also failed, so no guarantees there). Sune’s order of paladins — most unusual for a chaotic goddess — are known as the Ruby Rose Knights. One particular chapter of the Ruby Rose Knights takes martial discipline a step further, training their paladin aspirants as Crusaders, and eventually Enforcers. Occasionally, a cleric may request to cross-train. Such requests are very much handled on a case-by-case basis, leaving little clear precedent, but there has yet to be a cleric that couldn’t handle such a rejection. After all, one who cannot handle rejection, or a temperamental goddess, finds little favor with Sune.

The divine weapon Briedablik's origins are a riddle for the ages, as whoever created it no longer exists. Alternately, Briedablik could have been made as part of a joke or drunken shenanigans. Prior to my summoning, it did not have the mechanics and functions it did now.
It is common knowledge that Briedablik is an emergency weapon- intended to be wielded by anyone. It's also intended to only summon Heroes... and nothing else.
If only that were the case had I not unlocked its offensive functions...
