Summary
Fuck it.
Pursing his lips, Schlatt waited until he was well past the stranger until he pulled his rig onto the shoulder. Slowly, it screeched to a stop. He cringed at the idea of going out into the rain but shoved it aside as he adjusted his Yankees hat and pushed open the door.
He landed on the asphalt with a small splash and he immediately jogged with his head down past the long barrel of his truck. Still, the mystery person, a girl, was crouched down against the concrete barrier, now staring pathetically up at him.
“Hey, you need some help or something?”
