“Uh- I didn’t- Um- I mean- How-? I don’t-“ Brad stuttered out, fumbling with his words as his brain desperately tried to catch up.
“Not that I’m not glad to see you’ve finally got your shit together.” Gene (thankfully) cut off the younger man’s stuttering. That… almost felt too nice… “Now I don’t have to deal with your pathetic pining anymore.” Yep, there it was.
Brad felt like he was transported back to the day Gene pointed out the brunet’s big gay feelings for one (1) Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon. “How’d you know?”
The ginger’s raised eyebrow managed to climb even higher. “One, you were having a ‘Lloyd Daze’. It was written all over your face. And two,” the other man snorted, “it’s not like you can give yourself hickeys like that. What are you, his chew toy?”

“So first, it was those annoying Ninja,” Harumi counted off four on her fingers, almost in a gloating manner, “then, those tiresome allies of yours that likely guarded the monastery,” She added four more, “Oh who is left?” She hummed to herself in faux-rumination.
She clapped her hands together what most would call joy as she walked towards the dangling cage. She smiled. “And last, but certainly not least, remember your precious little boyfriend Brad?”
The Ninja was pacing back and forth in his cell erratically, tearing at his hair until those words left Harumi’s mouth. But in an instant, all of his burning rage was dosed in frigid fear. “Don’t do this Harumi!” Lloyd shouted in desperation, clinging to the cell’s bars. “He’s innocent in all of this! Don’t punish him for my mistakes!”
“That is where you are wrong, Lloyd!” The former princess snapped, before she smirked to herself. “This isn’t a punishment. This is to awaken your true potential. Your birthright. What are a few sacrifices in the face of that?”

Summary
And kai left. He always knew that if he left they would be fine, they'd made it quite clear. Having been pushed far enough, having finally had enough, he started his journey back to his village, leaving his sister and brothers behind. Said brothers and sister had to re work their lives with the absence of their brother, it finally hit them, that Kai was an important part of their lives and that he did so much for them.
