Bookmarker's Notes
The third in a series of increasingly emotionally affecting and well executed bad times.
In 2015 you'll read The Scientist and be like "wow there are a lot of satisfying payoffs and -- admittedly rough around the edges -- emotional moments. This hurts."
In 2018 you'll start reading Entropy and be like, "Damn this is very affecting. My life is affected," and you'll think about how effortlessly you felt the hopelessness of the scenes Entropy paints, masterful strokes of despair and horror, mixed between large splashes of plot and amazing character interactions, all shown, not told. You'll wonder whether you've got some sort of empathy-overdrive, soaking up any emotions you can find on a screen, or just simply lost in life yourself and relating the fictional experiences to your own. You'll watch the slow motion annihilation of a person and wonder if how strongly you feel reading it reflects more on the quality of the writing, or something in yourself. For years, when you wait at bus stops, it'll pop into your head again and you'll be thinking, "His whole life. For nothing."
And then in 2020 you'll read How to SAVE the World and it'll somehow be better. 10/10 would obsess over a fan-work for half a decade again. Seriously though, great character interaction. And an amazing time travel and memory arc that plays out masterfully. I still remember the shock when I realised what was going on. My god.
And then in 2022 you'll be shouting "YES" at your phone screen. So many amazingly sculpted twists and surprises. I've never been so happy reading something so unbelievably sappy. True relief from so many years of tension. This story has stayed in me for so long, and this relief is so powerful that Sans could fly and start farting rainbows and I'd still be 100% here for it. talkingsoup is simply too powerful.
