“Are you real?” she asked, voice cracking.
“I’m real,” he choked. “You’re—fuck, Hermione, you’re here—I thought—” His hands shook so violently the spell nearly failed.
The manacles fell away with a clatter.
The second they hit the floor, she surged forward and threw herself at him.
He caught her with a sound halfway between a sob and a growl, arms crushing her against his chest. His hands roamed—shoulders, back, waist, arms—as if making sure every piece of her was still there, still solid.
Her fingers tangled in his robes, fists curling tight like she never wanted to let go again.
“You came for me,” she breathed, over and over. “You came—you came—”
“Of course I did.” His voice was hoarse, feral. “I’d burn the fucking world.”

“Do I make you nervous, Nick?”
He watched his throat as he swallowed. Their gaze broke and Nick was now staring down at the pile of papers in front of him, fidgeting his fingers.
He was nervous.
Charlie cocked his head while he waited for an answer. He would wait all night if he had to. A cold, hard tone echoed through the room.
“Charlie, I’m your boss.”
Charlie let out a breath while he crossed his right leg over his left knee, leaned back into the chair and allowed his body to relax. Nick was eyeing him and he could feel a smirk creep on his face. Nick might be the boss, but Charlie had all the control and they both knew it.

Summary
Nick can't be gay. He knows he's not gay. He's had girlfriends and loved them so much that it felt like the world might end if he didn't get to see them every single day.
He can't figure out why he feels the exact same way about this boy in his form, and he's not sure if he wants to. If he can just get this boy out of his head, then everything can be normal again. He can repress this... whatever it is. He can be straight again. He did it before. Why isn't it working anymore?
Nick and Charlie in any universe, but we're going to make Nick's bisexuality crisis a lot longer and messier. There will be immense pining, internalized homophobia, and a heavy handed helping of sticky situations with other people on their way back to each other's side, but they'll make it. Eventually.
