Summary
It’s been a year since the shitstorm with Vecna, and Eddie Munson’s made it big with his band This Machine Slays Dragons. He hasn’t really stayed in touch with anyone, because why would he? He bounced as soon as he could, without a diploma, tail between his legs. Turns out the real world had a few treats in store for him, after all.
Steve Harrington isn't really stuck in Hawkins. He’s got the kids to look after, the portal to check on, and Robin to keep him company. Things are damn near ordinary, these days, and Steve's grateful for it.
And then Eddie Munson shows up.

“Um,” starts Steve, tapping his foot. “This is gonna sound, like, really dumb, but I heard this song on the radio? It’s— if I sing it to you, do you think you would, I don’t know, recognise it?”
The music store employee's eyebrows climb up her forehead, but she nods slowly. “I’m game. Take it away, cowboy.”

There are a couple dark lords and a cellar door in her way, but she is determined to outsmart them all. Well, at least the wizards, the door might pose a problem.
Do you think you can outwit Death, Hermione? Play the long game and win? Death is not clever. They are not tricky. They are eternal, and will outlast your dust.
Or, Hermione makes mistakes and deals with them the only way she knows how: larger, more desperate mistakes.
