Summary

The suspect is none other than famous bistro owner Vincent Charbonneu. Will Rody solve the case of her disappearance, or is he desperately playing a game of cat and mouse, where he's the mouse and has to outsmart his cat. With the odds stacked against him, and Vincent acting rather odd, has he bitten off far more than he can chew? Will it be enough to win Manon back?

A wave of shock made his body freeze over entirely, and he gasped quietly. His lips trembled, and he balled his weak, goosebump-covered hands into fists.
"You never ate anything I gave you then. I want you to finally cherish a meal I would make for you.” Vince grabbed his chin. He gazed into Rody’s eyes, with his own shrouded in a filthy murkiness, making his blood run cold. “If it means I have to use her to the very last bit, I will.”

Summary
Vince hired the guy out of pity.
Yeah, it's pity that twists in his gut when he sees Rody. Pity that forces his hand to hold out those plates of food; that forces his mouth to call them leftovers, when he'd spent painstaking time and effort to make them for Rody himself.
It's pity that eats away at his insides, wondering what faces Rody makes while he eats the food Vince made just for him.
