"A long haired girl in a blue adidas hoodie raised one slightly freckled hand near the middle of the classroom. From across the room, he couldn’t make out much of her features, but whatever her first name was, Charlie was pretty sure it wouldn’t be Nick. Though, he did wonder briefly if she had any brothers. She was objectively pretty, after all, and even if he was gay, he could appreciate the dark ginger-blond hair that hung loosely past her shoulders and the smattering of freckles on her face, clearly faded from getting limited sunlight over the winter months."

Older, tanned and far more weathered than he'd remembered...
The Jedi turned back towards Lord Vader, a small, achingly familiar smirk playing on his lips, pulling on wrinkles that hadn't existed before.

He moved smoothly, filling in his general's blanks, creating a perfect wall against the blasterfire.
Wherever the saber wasn't, his blasters were, dispatching the troopers while his general blocked.
Something in his head hurt, but something in his heart sang.
This was right. This was his place.

He stood with a groan and offered CC-2224 a hand.
Sudden dread filled CC-2224's stomach.
He flinched, making the princess and the criminal draw their blasters, but he ignored them. He had to get as far away from Obi-Wan as he possibly could in this tight space.
He cannot touch him.
"Are you alright?" Obi-Wan reached out, but CC-2224 frantically shook his head, holding his hands out before immediately drawing them back.
He put them on his helmet instead, holding tightly.
His hands couldn't be free. Not near Obi-Wan. Free hands could reach for blasters, could hit and strangle and betray.

Twenty-Four turns it over in his head until he can’t bear it anymore and he sits on the floor by a blank piece of wall and starts carving more names. He can’t remember any more of the 212th, and has started on other battalions, any name he can remember. These men had whole lives, they had dreams, and people who loved them, and now they’re just names scratched into an old ship.
