Summary

That said life somehow includes his long-lost godfather, a team of superheroes, a Norse god for a best friend, and a magical shop that caters to Muggles was not what he was expecting. That he ends up falling in love and getting a new family out of it was even less expected.

Bilbo was an oddity, and no mistake. He hated himself for it. He hated himself for ruining the best thing that had ever happened to him – for oh, Thorin. Thorin, who was his best friend, who was both teacher and student to him, who blessed him with such easy smiles and such eager attentions. Thorin, who was quite contented to sit beside a fire with Bilbo and exchange stories. Thorin, who had opened up Bilbo’s heart once more, until Bilbo woke one day to realise he was so deeply entangled in love that there was no hope for it.
There was no hope for it. He loved Thorin, heart and soul, and he had ruined it all now.

Summary
There are several things that the dwarves don't know about the hobbit that is traveling with them. Things that Bilbo is glad to let them find out for themselves along the way.
The first is that he's prepared for anything. His mother used to quiz him about what he'd do in any situation - from relatives to trolls - and Bilbo never disappointed her with his answers. Riding a pony all day gives him plenty of time to plan for everything.
The second is that he can throw a stone or any other small object hard enough to embed it several inches into a tree trunk. His accuracy is uncanny even by Shire standards. He's quite proud of it.
The third is that he doesn't actually say so many proverbs when at home but it seems to annoy the dwarves so he spends time thinking up all the ones he's heard before.
And last, hobbits scold like it is no one's business. The Dwarves he's traveling with really have no idea what will happen if they truly piss him off.

It was a masterful throw and sailed gracefully in the air, before hitting an elven prince in the chest with a soft thump. Legolas looked at the grape, now lying sadly on the floor. There was silence until he spoke up, "I was told there was dinner?"
