“You forgot?”
“Forgot… what?” Ness approached his bed cautiously, then perched on the edge of it, close enough to get a better look at the boy, but not close enough that the boy could grab him. “Have we met?”
The boy fell silent. Then, he changed — or the world outside did. Ness couldn’t tell if his hair darkened because a cloud had drifted in front of the sun, or if the cloud had appeared because the boy had started filling with colour. Whichever it was, the boy’s hair became a lustrous black and his right eye turned dark blue. “What about now?”
“I’m sure I’d remember if we’d met—”
“You obviously don’t!” The boy grabbed a fistful of the front of Ness’ shirt and jerked him closer. “You used to call me Yoichi. You said we’d be friends forever. I steered fate away for you, you know?”
Ness lost something, but he will reclaim it with a little help from two otherworldly menaces.

Isagi dialed the all too familiar number and Noel Noa picked up instantly. “Yoichi, it’s eight in the morning.”
“I know… sorry… I… Michael didn’t come home last night. He was drinking and he didn’t make it home and I don’t know where he is. Ness thinks he should go to rehab. I don’t really know what to do. I don’t think Michael is going to listen to me right now, but he listens to you. Well, most of the time.”
Noa was quiet for a moment. Then, he said, “Have you talked to Bunny Iglesias?”
“Bunny? Why?”
“They’ve become close since Michael joined Re Al. Bunny might know where Michael is and, if not, he might clue you in on where he might be.”
“Okay… I’ll contact Bunny.”

“C’mon, Oshi-san! I still hafta show ya’ one last thing!” Mika is radiant as he smiles at him, but he could still see the dark shadows under his eyes and the roughness of his hands, which had some cuts in them from all the jobs he had to partake in. Why was Mika working so hard to keep someone like him around? He couldn’t ask, but he took his hand in his, allowing Mika to pull him up.
For this one time, Shu will follow him to the end of the world if Mika asks him. It is the least he can do for him after everything Mika has done to keep him alive.
