“I’m not gay, Lt.”
Time froze for a long moment. Ghost wasn’t expecting that answer at all.
You meant to tell him that after all those longing stares, the praise seeking, licking his lips, Soap wasn’t into men?
He tilted his head, eyes narrowed as he leaned in even closer, until he could feel the heat of Soap’s body emanating from him, “That right?”
“Yep. Straight as a ruler.”
He knew what he saw. There was no way Soap was completely straight. No straight man ogled another man like that, licking his lips and begging for his praise like an over-eager mutt. Surely, he was in denial. That was the only conclusion Ghost could come to.
Instead of feeling discouraged, a slow grin spread across his face. As a soldier, he was well-versed with the idea that one defeat didn’t mean he lost the war. He would make Soap realize his desires, picking at his soft points until he broke and admitted it himself.
This was going to be fun.

Summary
But Ghost didn’t seem to mind, quietly filling the kettle before setting it to boil, those dark eyes watching as John paced the kitchen, one arm flailing about in the air, the other locked tight around his half-melted pint of rocky road.
He told Ghost he was stressed. That the entire MacTavish clan was coming into town, which meant awkward hugs, judgmental stares, and nosy questions from people he hadn’t seen in years. John could handle all of that, he really could.
But what he couldn’t handle was the questions. Why he hadn’t settled down yet, why he didn’t have a nice Scottish girl on his arm.
Why he wasn’t married with a child on the way, because Ethel and James weren’t getting younger, and John was already too old. For fuck’s sake.
“Maybe I don’t want to bring home a wee lass,” John had snapped, voice cracking as he dug his spoon in harder than necessary, a brown, congealed clump of freezer-burned rocky road flying onto the floor. “Maybe I don’t even like women, has anyone considered that?”
And there, in less than twenty words, John had completely outed himself.

Summary
In the aftermath of Makarov’s attack, a forcibly retired Soap is left alone and bored in the Scottish Highlands with nothing to do but secretly paint portraits of the man he misses the most.
When an idle wish brings one of his paintings to life, Soap does very little to discourage this miraculous new clone of his former Lieutenant from sneaking into his bed. It’s not like anyone - let alone Ghost - will ever find out, after all.
He should’ve known a copy of Ghost would be just as persistent and cunning as the real man himself.

Summary
There’s a ghost haunting the 141 common room. At least, Soap is about 80% sure there is, which is, in fairness, realistically about as sure as anyone could reasonably be about spooks haunting their workplace. He’s not stupid, he knows no one else is going to believe him if he brings it up. The scorn if he suddenly starts harping on about ghosties and ghoulies.
None of that negates the fact that there definitely is one though. Probably.
