Summary
After his inprisonment, Varian realizes helplessly, that he has never been more alone; only the whispered presence of Ruddiger for comfort. He has not even the familiarity of his own mind to turn to, because all that seems left of it are jagged fragments of bitterness, and hate, and fear. Oh so much fear.
So when the moon calls to him, warm and soft like the vaguest sun, he listens.
He never expects for the moon to guide him straight back into the sun's path, just as he never expects to be so inter-woven with the moon's fate. And the very last thing he expects is to trust again, the sun's promise.
But alas, this is a story of trust. A story of redemption and forgiveness. A story of finding yourself through icy remnants and missing shards. And if not anything else, this is Varian's story.

“Damian!” Dick shouts, skidding out into the hall. He still has his controller in his hand as he yanks open Damian’s door, expecting the worst-
What he gets is a hole in their wall and a tiny, blue-tinged cat having a stare-down with Damian, who’s still sitting in bed, book resting on his thighs. The cat, for reasons unknown to Dick, is wearing a red and black suit that almost looks like Hal’s in the design. It takes his mind a moment to connect the dots- here, in the room, is a Red Lantern.
Oh no.

Drake clicks his tongue and tilts his head off to the side. “This really isn’t as fun as I thought it would be.”
Oh, really? Damian starts furiously finger spelling, just to be annoying. You know, I thought the floating platforms would be of the utmost excitement.
“I caught a solid half of that and I think you’re making fun of me.” Drake goes to shift before remembering that he can’t - his face beneath his domino contorts into something unpleasant. “My legs are falling asleep, dude.”
You move, signs Damian, for real this time, and I go under.
“You talk,” Drake shoots back. “And I go under."
