Techno's eyes portrayed something strangely familiar.
He wasn’t looking at him in malice. He did not point at Tommy and laugh, unlike how some of the other hunters had. Barely able to contain their anticipation at the sight of the ticking clock and Tommy’s collection of wrong answers.
No, Techno’s eyes refused to leave his own. Ember red carving molded shapes of themselves into petrified blue, and Tommy could finally place where he’d seen that look before.
It hung off of every street kid in The Pit. Dripped from drugged faces in dingy alleyways at night. He’d seen that look on his very own face, in the harsher of winters or when the lottery grain inevitably ran dry.
Techno’s eyes read that of raw want.
And they were currently fixated on Tommy.

Tommy has always felt pulled towards witchcraft. The warm tingling in his hands whenever he got into contact with anything even remotely magic, his constant urge to collect trinkets and clutter and his wild dreams were just examples for that. You could say he was born for it. But witchcraft is frowned upon and the only people who were allowed to tend to it properly were the witches of the Academy.
That doesn't stop Tommy from dipping his toes into the matter, in the most chaotic and dangerous ways possible.

Summary
Tommy huffs, clouds of his breath swirling around in the darkened sky, a cold wind carrying it away. He slides his hands into the pockets of his new coat, feeling more content than he has since..well..since ever.
His rent is paid, his groceries are bought, and for once, he had a little extra to get himself something. He hasn't felt this secure since he got off the streets, and it's really nice. Things are finally starting to look up for him, and he doesn't think anything could go wrong.
