    Tim snorted as he jogged over to the table, immediately rummaging through the basket like a man on a mission. He nabbed two sandwiches, tossing one over his shoulder toward Steph. She caught it midair, glanced at it—then made a face.
    “Eww. Tuna.” She tossed it back with practiced ease. “Check for roast chicken. Alfred always hides one.”
    Still chewing on a pear, Tim offered her a salute and dug deeper. I rolled my eyes and shoved a whole-wheat, chicken sandwich in his direction.
    “Here. And maybe don’t eat like a raccoon on a sugar high?” I arched a brow. “You’re gonna choke.”
    Pear clenched between his teeth so both hands could keep digging; he gave me a look of pure innocence.
    Adorable.
    I snorted a laugh.
    Steph swiped the sandwich from his hands before he could escape with it. “Sweet!” She unwrapped it with glee—then recoiled when she realized she’d just ruffled his sweaty hair with her free hand.
    “Oh. Yuck!” She shook out her hand, face scrunched in disgust.
    Tim’s laugh—muffled by a mouthful of tuna—bubbled up, anyway. “Serves you right,” or something to that effect. I shot him a pointed look, and he had the grace to sheepishly close his mouth and chew like a civilized person.

    Being named after the stars was a common thing, people see their beauty and their magnificence, and they want it for their own. Stars hold a sense of wonder, of power, of time and space and everything in-between. They have an innocence to them, a feeling of safety, of a higher being looking down on the world, glistening from the galaxies.

    Stella was named after these stars, but not for any of the above reasons. Her name was chosen because stars were made up of fire, they burned brightly- just as she did. She had spent her whole life being Nick Fury's super-powered child assassin, it was all she knew and the main lesson he had taught her was to kill or be killed. She was his brightest star, his favorite killing machine- but everybody knows stars shine their brightest when they are about to burn out.

    When SHIELD falls, and she is suddenly at risk of being exposed, Fury sends her to his other heroes, the Avengers, and Stella learns there's a whole lot more to life than Nick Fury had ever taught her.

    Or, Tony Stark has a problem not adopting troubled and parentless children, especially ones that shine brightly once he enters a room.

    One moment, Jason was peacefully sleeping, perfectly content with his life with the League of Assassins. Okay, so maybe not content content, but he wasn't unhappy, either. Then Talia woke him up at 2 am, threw three children at him, and told him to get them to America and far away from Ra's al Ghul.

    What the fuck.

    The last thing he wanted was to see Bruce. But with three brats relying on him and no Talia, there weren't many options for sanctuary. He just didn't expect the kids to grow on him so much in two short weeks.
