"I'll marry you," she offered quietly. She was looking away now, eyes trained on the ground somewhere beside Ocean. Her hands were toying with one of her braids, fiddling with it.
Ocean's mouth fell open.
Penny was a girl! Everyone knew that two girls couldn't get married!
But... nobody else wanted to marry her. And Penny seemed nice, even though they had never really talked before.
It was definitely nice of her to offer.
"Why?" Ocean blinked. It wasn't like they were friends or anything. It didn't really make sense for Penny to offer to pretend-marry her out of the blue.
"Because. You want to marry someone. I heard you say it," Penny still wasn't making eye contact. "And you're interesting. You know a lot of things. And your hair is red and shiny, kind of like a fox. I like it."

The shorter girl chewed her lip, bouncing anxiously on her heels, before replying quietly.
"Constance was my ride home."
"Oh," Penny blinked, before looking Ocean up and down, shrugging one shoulder. "I can give you a ride on my bike, if you want?"
Penny's bike.
More accurately, the busted old motorcycle that Penny had stumbled across in an alleyway one day, which Misha and Ricky had been more than eager to help her repair.
Personally, Ocean would argue that the correct term for that vehicle would be deathtrap, but she unfortunately appeared to be alone in this belief.
