"Interesting read?" Buck asks and when Eddie shoots him a confused look, he nods towards the book in his lap. "Leave The Light On?"
"Oh! Yeah, it's one of my favorite books." Eddie smiles, shy and charming. "I've read the series like, a thousand times."
"Really? Huh?" Buck feels his heart thump erratically inside of him.
Holy shit, holy shit. Eddie Diaz read his books.
Honestly, how is Buck supposed to act normal after such revelation?
"I'm actually flying to an audition right now. Hopefully to be part of the movie for the book." Eddie says and then frowns. "Oh shit, I don't know if I should've told you that."
"It's okay." He leans forward and grins, squinting one of his eyes and shrugging. "Your secret's safe with me.'or; Buck's a best seller author under a pen name, Eddie is an actor auditioning for the movie adaptation of his books, and somewhere along the way, they fall in love.

“Why are you acting like this isn’t a big deal?” His voice was raised, but he wasn’t yelling. “Buck, you have been living out of a storage unit for weeks! You’re in pain, you’re hungry, and you’re— You’re homeless. You have no home."
Eddie had such a way with words. You have no home. Very nice of him.
“What do you want me to do, Eddie?” He put the measuring cup down with enough force that it bounced to the floor. “Breakdown and cry? Get on my knees and beg someone for a loan? I took what I could.”
“No, you didn’t.” Eddie’s cursed index finger came up, pointing right at Buck’s chest. “Because you didn’t tell anyone! We would’ve helped you. I would’ve helped you.”
“I don’t want anyone’s help,” Buck pressed. “I got myself into this situation, and I can get myself out. I always do.”
Eddie held both his hands up, but they dropped as something dawned on him. Misery flooded his features. “You took over my lease.”
The last thing Buck wanted to do was make Eddie feel guilty. His decisions put him where he was— Nobody else’s. Still, his head fell. “Yeah, Eddie. I did.”

Hot Tall Guy huffed out a laugh. "Hm, that's a new one."
"The sad thing is, it's not even a come-on, just god's honest truth," Eddie said with a sigh. "I just ran across the guy I went on two and a half ill-considered and well-regretted dates with, told him off and called his kissing skills appalling, and he's still not getting that I'm not interested. I was hoping to rub it in a little by openly appreciating a hot stranger's kissing skills a lot more than I ever did his."
"And how do you know my kissing skills are better than his?" Hot Tall Guy smiled, a little mischievously, and Eddie felt his knees go a little weak. Up close, he could see a birthmark on the man's brow that drew the gaze to his brilliant blue eyes.

Some other omegas he's met understood it, the need to be an individual, the need to push their secondary gender to the side and stand on their own in this world. But reality is they can't get everything they need from each other or even from some betas.

“So where are you guys planning on going?” Eddie asked.
Buck looked down at his feet.
“Uhm..Santa monica.”
They all snapped their heads towards him in shock.
“I'm sorry, where?!” Hen yelped out in shock and confusion. “Did I hear that right?”
“Tommy thinks it’d be good for me.” Buck shrugged. “Like patching up old wounds.”
“I just can't understand why you guys don't like him.”
“He's an insufferable asshole..” Chim voiced.
“Has some kind of god complex..” Hen added.
“He doesn't know you at all. And treats you like shit.” Eddie hissed angrily.
