Summary
I felt the instinct to brush it away and avoid the conversation.
But we were going to interact with Corona again at the end of this journey – and at the end of every journey, probably, because the university was ART’s home – and it was gonna flirt with me, and I was gonna Not Hate It, and ART was gonna have some kind of Reaction, and-
I sighed out loud. I have really been enjoying sighing out loud, these past few years.
"We should talk about this."

Summary
Following the events of CA:TWS, the Winter Soldier finds Hawkeye. Clint is still haunted by his own experiences with having his control stripped away, but together they find a way to heal.
Excerpt:
“How did you even … how are you tracking me?” Clint tries.
The question seems to confuse Barnes even further. He looks at Clint, and then somewhere behind Clint’s shoulder, and then back to Clint’s eyes.
“I don’t know,” Barnes says again.
“Listen,” Clint says, taking a step forward, and Barnes flinches back instinctively, stumbling for a moment.
“Whoa,” Clint says. Before he knows it he’s sheathing the knife and grabbing Barnes’ arm, steadying him. Barnes blinks rapidly a few times, wobbling a bit before he seems to find his balance again. His slate-blue gaze, so intent a moment ago, seems a little unfocused.
“When’s the last time you ate? Drank something? Slept?”
“I don’t know,” Barnes says, Clint mouthing the lines along with him.
Christ, Nat is going to kill him when she finds out about this, but there’s nothing else Clint can do.
“Well, c’mon in the house. We’ll get this figured out.”

Look, I didn’t want to see Amena crying again. For one thing, it was awkward and gross, and for another thing, I guess I sort of liked her and I didn’t want her to be sad. But after we’d talked to Mensah, Amena had gone back to the bunkroom I’d claimed for her.
Which also happened to be the bunkroom I’d claimed for myself.

The meta-tags popped up when I scanned the file; it looked like some kind of self-contained background routine, written and locked for my use. Which was weird, because I had asked ART to help look over some of my targeting code yesterday but we were already done with that.

Murderbot needs some help and the asshole research transport offers its assistance (and sarcastic commentary). Please note the tags: there is some light, implied transfer-of-control going on, and while it's totally safe for work, it may not be your cup of tea.

Summary
Murderbot has taken to turning its governor module on every so often to relax. It feels a little bit like going on autopilot, and it likes how that feels (so longs its careful not to trigger a shock). ART notices that Murderbot has been doing this, and wants to have a conversation about that.
(Basically, ART and Murderbot do a non-sexual kink negotiation for a non-sexual bondage session, and then try out letting ART control Murderbot's governor module)

Ratthi sighed. “So, you have a relationship with this transport.”
“No!” SecUnit spat out, its tone wholly scandalized.
It could truly be exasperating sometimes. “I didn’t mean a sexual relationship.” (As if "relationship" automatically must boil down to all those florid media tropes. As if a "relationship" was only real if it met certain standards.)

Summary
Most of the code I write is code that I can evolve on the fly. My code to delete me out of security footage, for instance, was something I'd built up over months, adjusting it to different proprietary SecSystems as I encountered them. But this was different: my comm and feed protections were what kept me from falling under anyone else's control, and I couldn't afford to have them be anything but perfect, which was why I was here. If I wanted to fix this vulnerability properly, and I did, there were things that I needed to do that I couldn't do without help.
-
In the aftermath of getting hacked, Murderbot asks ART to help it make sure it can't be hacked the same way again. As it turns out, applying and testing a security patch is a little more challenging than usual when the vulnerable system is, you know, your own brain.

When ART finally confirmed the PA credentials and cycled the lock, I was waiting in the foyer. I'd disabled my human behavioral code, so I didn't twitch when the whole group of humans all stopped in their tracks to stare at me.
I said, "You have boarded the Perihelion, registered teaching vessel of the Pansystem University of Mihira and New Tideland. Please state your business."
In my feed, ART whispered, You sound like a shuttle attendant.
I sound like a SecUnit.

What is this? ART asked.
"A list of potential security vulnerabilities," I said. "As your security consultant, I recommend that these be patched against attacks."
ART pinged me with a code that granted me administrative access. Then you will not mind writing the patches.
