Of course, she’d seen Luz tear up before, like that day she had dyed her hair purple but had lost her job at the library first. And she’d seen the tears that her lover had wiped off her cheeks after hugging her mother for the first time in actual months.
But it had never been like this.
Luz had never openly cried in her embrace, tears staining Amity’s shirt.
And that was when she realized.
She needed to be there for Luz.
