Summary
The creature is like nothing Hannibal has ever seen before. Hannibal pretends to search, but he is focused on the way the creature moves, rippling and throbbing. It appears to be turning around, rotating until it lays perpendicular to Will’s prone form, holding him down by the midsection. If it’s attempting to eat the man, it’s being rather indirect about it.

Sephiroth being brought down a peg, physically degrading in his temporary copy, is a real nice, fresh trope to me! Him being nearly completely ignorant about human sexual reproduction is also hilarious and adorable. I love the consistent he/him pronouns for Cloud, and the balance between attending to the gory details of f-preg and birth, and simply leap-frogging over the scariest possibilities with a hand-wave of Cloud just being a BAMF enhanced SOLDIER. The feeling of tangible HOPE at the end is weighty, too - emblematic of this fic's excellent balance between realism and fantasy. (now i want to write semi-nomadic-mama-cloud fic...)
