Summary
A month after the events of Starfall Islands, Doctor Eggman shows up in Green Hills, tiredly seeking Sonic's assistance in curing a case of cyber-hallucinosis in his recently-revived daughter. A cure, however, isn't as simple as retrieving the Emeralds: it requires re-exploring the ruins of the physical Starfall Islands, dipping in and out of the fractured Cyberspace to hunt for fragments of Sage's old code. Each breach into the old tech risks being trapped forever in a digital echo of reality -- or worse, re-triggering the dormant cyber-corruption in Sonic's body. All in all, not a happy ending to be stuck in.
Still, bored and looking for a new adventure, Sonic's more than happy to help -- at least, for Sage's sake.
Finding Shadow poking around in the ruins, though, that's a surprise. More a shock? He's amicable to help.
...maybe Sonic has lost some marbles from the cyber-corruption, after all.

Sonic knows Shadow would never smile at him, Shadow would never show mercy, Shadow would never extend his hand to him- but then he says, “I am Enkidu.” -and realization crashes down on Sonic.
“Right,” he says. Because he’s a storybook doppelgänger and not actually Shadow. Get it through your head, Sonic. “I’m Sonic,” he says. And maybe it’s just that he’s loopy from shock or whatever, but the next thing he says is, “Let’s be friends, alright?”
