Summary
“Why won't you tell me what’s wrong? I know something is!” Mirabel said, worried. He turned to gaze at her, eyes shining emerald green. In the dark, they glowed like fireflies.
“Mira… I don’t know if I’m awake or asleep any longer…” he confessed in a whisper, hands extended towards her, beckoning. Mesmerized, she came closer, the sound of the fluttering clothes and sand echoing in the silent desert. “Are you even here? …or are you just my dream?” the frailness in his tone broke her heart.
“I’m here, Tío Bruno” she answered, a tear trailing down her cheek, holding his hands and giving them a tender kiss. A tortured expression flickered in his otherwise blank face.
“Are you?”
Months after the collapse of Casita and the rebuilding of their family life, a seemingly small incident leads Mirabel to change how she views her Tío Bruno. Summary
