Marco crushing the cigarette in his fingertips convinced him otherwise. Ace made his bed, and he’ll lie in it. Ace did the same with his cigarette.
“You say all that like you’ll forget me,” Ace said, grinning. His look softened. “But I’ll think of you. Don’t do anything stupid, ‘kay?”
Marco’s smile turned soft and bittersweet as the sun set and the winds got cooler. He knew this might be the last time they would ever speak to each other.
“You light something up in me, my little firecracker,” Marco said, smiling. “You’re the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I will always want you.”
