William J. Poindexter enters college defensive. Not just in hockey.
But Dex has a long journey ahead of him learning to be a better friend, teammate, and person. He learns a lot about himself and the others around him, and a little bit about love. This is the story of his first three years at Samwell. From feeling like an outcast and needing to aggressively defend his place on the edge of the group, to joining in and finding that sense of belonging with his teammates and best friends.

“So Farmer, do you… uh.” Derek feels his cheeks warming. “Do you think Dex and I are… dating?”
Dex makes a sound like he’s sucking a breath through his teeth.
“Aren’t you?” Farmer looks back and forth between Derek and Dex, and then blushes. “Oh, shit. I’m sorry, I just assumed.”

The thing is, he’s had study nights and tv marathons in Chowder’s room. He’s gotten stoned in Shitty’s, and Lardo’s, crashed on Jack’s floor after a kegster, gone to Bitty’s for advice, and checked Ransom and Holster’s for ghosts. If it were anyone else’s, Nursey would at least have some indicator of what was going on, because he’d be able to recognise the decorations, the layout.
But Derek Nurse wakes up in William Poindexter’s room and has no idea where the fuck he is.
