Finn, Rey and Leah have fought a hard battle against their inner demons. And they won. Finn became confident and is in nobody's shadow. Leah has found love and no longer feels alone. Rey rejected the evils she once was chasing after and became the Jedi she was meant to be.
Poe became a respected leader. Once an alleged hothead, now he is the worthy successor of Leia.

Summary
An alternate ending to Path of a Rebel and the beginning of the Stormwolf series.
Rey has chosen to trust Kylo, who always took from others and pretended to be the victim, while turning her back to her friends, including Finn, who was the abused hero Kylo pretended to be.
Finn, disappointed in her, leaves her.
Meanwhile, Leah's short moments of glory are over for a long time. She is alone, as she always was in her life before she met Kitty, Nicky and Dex, and then Finn.
She has no company, everyone hates her, she is in a cell, humiliated and alone.
But she won't cry. She is used to it.
Life is not fair for them. They always tried to stand up for others, only to be pushed aside, abused and called selfish.
But it failed to bring them down.
