Written as part of the 2024 Valentine's Rarepair Exchange for Arrowean, who requested MIR essence ednaib impact play.
Edgar, a boy prince, runs away from his life of nobility. He ends up in the lap of Man in Red, a nameless specter of the red death, a vampire of emotion who... seems to care enough about the boy to keep him alive. "Alive" does not mean unharmed, however.

One red-clawed hand grips tight against the Runaway’s hip, nails poking into the soft flesh, and the other finally, finally closes around his aching cock. Jack smiles, dismissively, invisible behind mask. It is flippant, in how he gestures Philippe away, a tone of mock pity forming in his voice. “My apologies,” comes his curt response. “I had expected the manor to do its job of healing our wounds. Unfortunately, it seems to have failed.”
Jack allows himself a moments reprieve from the nagging to consider how exactly he had found himself in this situation. The Antiquarian, lethal in all that she was, had taken to his ankles in a means to ensure her teammates escape. A last-ditch effort, for Detention was not a laughable matter, and she was not one to shy from danger.
Jack finds himself bored and unable to hunt.
