“The Riley family house…” Gaz said quietly, shuffling in his spot in the backseat. “It can’t be much different from our usual cases, can it?”
“Well, everyone so far has left running from that place. Even the shadows couldn’t handle it.”
“Graves?” Soap said, leaning as far forward as the seatbelt allowed him to, much more interested.
“Let’s just say his American spirit left him temporarily.”
“He died?” Soap’s mouth fell to the floor as a raw chill shook his body.
“… For a short period.”
Soap tried to swallow, his throat dry. Graves and his team were just as good as them with the paranormal, both of them specialised teams that worked with ghosts and all that came with them on the regular.
Death was normal in their line of work, it was a risk that came red underlined with the position. Sometimes spirits got rough and most of the time they wouldn’t hesitate to throw you around like a rag doll, possess you, terrify you, all to gain back some part of themselves. What was murder to the dead anyway?

With swift movement, the infant’s eyes were switched. And just like he guessed, the infant let out a blood curling scream. Immediately the infant’s face went purple and the infant tried to rub at its eyes and face.

The Death Note still makes its way to Earth and the reign of Kira still begins. But Light Yagami really is innocent! If only the detective L would believe him so that they could actually catch the true murderer. It doesn't help that Light truly is hiding a secret, just not the one L is thinking. No, the secret Light is hiding is that he can see the names of every person he sees and when they die. But that's probably not important... right?
