Vi looks back.
Vi’s eyes are already going glassy. Blood drips from her slack lips. There are four, bullet-sized holes across her chest, leaving ashy imprints in her red jacket. In the space between blinks, the red grows darker as the holes – the wounds – begin to belatedly bleed.
The chair squeaks, and swings around all at once. It takes Vi’s staring face with it. Across the back are the same, four holes. Clearer without all that flesh in the way. They must have blown straight through – straight through Vi –
