Bruce Wayne is a bad person. He has known it almost his entire life. It’s why bad things have happened to him since he was only five years old, when two nice people ask if they can drive him to an ice cream factory, and Bruce is stupid, and follows them. It’s in every friendship, like the one Bruce and his neighbour used to have, where Bruce never enjoyed doing well, and that was wrong. It’s in every reflection of himself, like the mirrors people would press him up against as they told him he was brave, and not broken, even though he was shattered long before he ever heard those words, and never put back together. It’s in every secret Bruce has ever kept, which are buried so deep within him, that he isn’t even certain he can dig them out, and doesn’t think that he wants to. It’s in every promise— whether gifted or given —because in the end every one of them is nothing but ash.
That’s okay, though, because Bruce can endure. He can endure, because he knows by now that love is enduring things, and waiting for his reward. Yes, Bruce can endure, because that’s what love is.

Summary
Bruce and Clark are kidnapped by aliens and taken to Nereid - their home planet. In order to save Bruce from becoming the aliens' concubine, Clark tells them that he's already spoken for. This leads to an elaborate act to make sure they'll survive long enough to escape. All they have to do is convince the aliens they're in love for a few days, how hard can it be?

Bruce doesn’t even know where to begin. He’s still trying to figure out how they got into this mess in the first place. It shouldn’t have happened this way, he had a plan. They were following his plan, at least to some extent. There’s always some hiccups but nothing major. They were doing good. There is absolutely no reason it should’ve gone this wrong.Oh wait, that’s right, it is completely and irrevocably Clark Kent’s fault.

It’s come to a point where Bruce is almost expecting it to happen.
Every day, like clockwork, Bruce can expect to find Clark showing up at his home, or the cave, or at his workplace. Every day, Clark will kiss him, Bruce will let him, and Clark will fly away. On days they have to meet up, Bruce will expect a discreet kiss from Clark regardless of the presence of others. Clark is always cautious in his audacity, never in a position where he might be discovered, but always toeing the line.

In all their years knowing each other, Bruce has never known Clark to be a clingy man. An affectionate one, certainly, but even that only extends as far as a friendly hand on a shoulder, or a hug in some rare situations. Even Bruce’s assessment of him as uniquely affectionate might be rather relative to himself, considering that Batman is as cold as ice on a good day.
The point being that he did not see Clark as the type to be stealing kisses every day, let alone making the trip from Metropolis to Gotham to do so. Which, of course, is barely an issue for Clark, but it’s the principle of the matter.
