Cole had to help handle it all, with focus, guidance and the look of surety and calmness on his face, even when he felt everything. The earth was still screaming in his head, scratching at his skull, unyielding and ever-present.
Then the world starts to shake, and Cole finds himself on the floor beside his bed. He's bruised, he doesn't remember how he got there.
He's watching Sora and Lloyd train under the bright light of the sun, and then he's inside, on a couch, staring up at the ceiling with fog coating his brain, a bitten tongue, and the taste of iron in his mouth.

Summary
It wasn't every day that the whole group could find time to get together. Sonic, Amy and Tails, all in one place. The Chaotix, Rouge, Shadow, even Omega; all crammed into Amy's living room and enjoying a quiet night that didn't beckon the end of the world.
The fact that Knuckles could look over the room and see each one of his friends was a sight to behold too. Everyone having the same bit of time off from their respective responsibilities happened once in a blue moon.

Summary
Knuckles has always had an unexplainable and mystical connection with the very thing that he had been brought up to protect. The Master Emerald was unknown, extremely powerful, a thing of legends and tales.
It was also inhuman, sentient but not aware. Omnipresent. Powerful in the way a god looks down upon a small bug. Yet benevolent. Caring.
The Guardian had been created to protect her, watch over her. Keep the balance of the world and its power. Raised into the role he'd been destined to always have.
Her Guardian was a part of chaos itself. A fractel of the Master.
So where did the Master Emerald truly end, and Knuckles the Echidna begin?

Summary
To make the choice to leave a duty that had been impressed upon oneself since birth sometimes felt impossible. Improbable. Unlikely. So much life and stress and tears, laughter and happiness poured into a birthright he'd never been able to refuse.
The Master Emerald was omnipresent, chaos existed in everything and everywhere; but the option to leave had always been there. Knuckles could take a few days away from his role if needed, he could take a bit longer to go and explore the world and create his own experiences.
But what if things were different?
If the choice to leave was never there in the first place? The duty he had been born into becoming an inescapable role that he'd been specifically created for.
Since being crafted by cosmic hands and given life and consciousness, an eldritch and otherworldly being masquerading as an Echidna didn't have a choice.
Knuckles could have wants, desires for more. But there was never a choice to be apart from the hands of the Master Emerald that had assembled his very existence from the fabric of the universe, of planets and stars.
And of a shard of herself.

Summary
It was common knowledge that Knuckles didn't know too much about his own past. There were large swathes, years and years of gaps in his memories that he chose to ignore in favour of the present. He had friends, he had a life outside of his duty to balance and order; why question a past that bore no influence on his future?
Though when his memories stop adding up, when the blank spots in his mind become too large and mysterious, well, Knuckles was curious by nature.
But when he finds out the truth of his childhood, his birth and his parentage, the situation he finds himself trapped in quickly becomes inescapable.
Just like each time before.

Summary
They have a year and a half together after graduating from U.A. and then, suddenly, Izuku is called to America for an experiment at one of the agencies All Might worked at when he was young.
Izuku leaves and Shouto stays behind, not realizing that leaving is much harder than he thinks.
The seasons pass, the leaves accumulate and the days go by and Izuku finally realizes that leaving it behind doesn't stop him from feeling. Much less forget.
Until one day, everything changes.
He returns.
