Summary
These scenes are my interpretation of the gaps, based on my understanding of the characters and what might have happened before or after the events of the original show. Some scenes are entirely imagined, but they are all connected to the surrounding episodes.
For the record, I don’t believe Shaw and Root’s relationship was purely platonic—if you’ve read my other work, Veins of the Machine, you’ll know why. However, I see their connection as one that prioritized emotional depth before physical intimacy. To someone like Shaw, casual sex is one thing, but casual sex with someone she worked with, respected, and had undeniable, albeit confusing, feelings for is something entirely different.
