Enraged after Lucifer's refusal to return to Hell, God finally steps in.

And then Lucifer’s not quite Lucifer anymore, yet he can’t remember if he ever was. As a human-looking being in a human world, he assumes the only thing he can.
Memory of his origins foggy, fading, then gone. Powers not gone, but suppressed — enough so that he can always explain away how people tend to open up to him, why doors always seem to be unlocked. But the one thing he can't explain to himself are the embers he feels deep within himself. Distant, but glowing.
It gives him no comfort, this feeling that he's more. It's an itch he can't reach, a puzzle he can't solve. So he stops searching, and drowns it instead.
Life has not been kind to Lucifer since then. Wrecked by his melancholy and consumed by every vice under the sun, he meets Chloe Decker. She throws him in a holding cell to sleep off a bender, and when he awakes, sober for the first time in what could be months or years... there's that flame again. Tiny, but hopeful. And he can't say why exactly, but there's something about this woman that makes him want to start searching again.

Summary
A day after an incident on a beach leaves fifteen people with no memory, only two have yet to be identified. The first, a thirty-something man with presumably fake identification proclaiming him Lucifer Morningstar. The second, a ten year old girl to whom Lucifer has become reluctantly attached.
On the other side of the country Chloe Decker fights through her own celestial-induced fog as she tries to locate her missing daughter. The search lands her in the middle of a cosmic test, the ramifications of which will have consequences for both herself, Lucifer and Trixie.

A piece of Samael was imbued into every one of those stars; to envelop something so beautiful and pure inside a hideous outer shell was akin to encasing his own heart, shuttering it away from the freedom and warmth of light, muffling its own heartbeat.
There was no telling how intimately he would become acquainted with that feeling many years later.
Though she had slipped into his life gently, through dreams, tenderly as was her nature, he had crash landed into hers in his own way. He’d never expected the Decker women to stitch him into their own family tapestry so readily, folding him in as part of their pattern—like they’d merely been waiting for him to arrive, like he was always meant to be there.
Story based around the song Venus by Sleeping At Last.
