Oscar exhales in relief, glad to have one less witness to whatever fresh humiliation is bound to unfold. He turns back to Lando—
Only to find his face mere centimeters away. His lips are puckered.
Like he’s expecting a kiss.
Oscar jerks back as if electrocuted, heart lurching into his throat. From the corner of his eye, he catches Nurse Brown hastily covering her mouth to muffle her laughter.
“What are you doing?” Oscar demands, his cheeks burning.
“Smooching you, mate,” Lando slurs as though that’s explanation enough, making exaggerated wet sounds for emphasis.
