Summary
Deep in the heart of the British countryside, a small kingdom was tormented by an ancient dragon. It devoured livestock, it was never satisfied. Then, one day, the beast made a demand of the king
“Bring me a bride, and your kingdom shall be safe once more.”
Desperate to end the looming terror over the kingdom, the king ordered all the young maidens to be offered to the creature. One by one, they were consumed, not enough according to the beast. The dragon remained unsatisfied.
Soon, not a single maiden remained—except for the king’s youngest daughter. But the thought of losing her was unbearable. Seeking to delay the inevitable, the king sent a prisoner to the dragon instead, hoping to buy time.To everyone’s shock, the dragon did not reject this offering. For the first time, it did not hunger for more.
