Summary
The bathroom stall door jiggles. The door shakes and pounds. Then the door is forced open. And Priya is face-to-face with the muzzle of a gun.
“No!” Mei shouts.
The gun sounds.
“Let go!” Miriam screams, “My friends are still in there!”
“You have to stay here, kid!”
“No! Priya!! Mei!!”
Tyler stares from a distance as the facts sink in. Mei and Priya are still in the school. They are still in the school with the shooter. And Tyler can’t do anything about it anymore. He’s failed the friends that he so desperately wanted to stay by his side.
Abby doesn’t remember that morning clearly other than feeling hot and tired. She slept the day away. She does, however, remember that night when she finally got up and walked out of her bedroom to hear the news of what happened at school.

Summary
It’s been two years.
Two years since the 4*Town concert they went to without Mei.
Two years since Mei’s ritual to seal her red panda spirit away.
Two years since Mei fell out of their friend group.
Two years of passing her in the hallways, seeing her in a couple of mutual classes, excelling with the perfect grades, kissing up to the teachers, and engaging with all of the academic extracurricular activities that would make any parent proud.
Mei tossed them aside to live a perfect, untainted life.
What did they do? They decided to live their lives without her, and they were happy enough without her.
And now Mei tries to kill herself?
