Soviet walks through the hall of the bunker. Taking out his pistol, he strides into the room where the biggest bastard of the underground sits in a chair to finish their conflict once and for all.
The weapon is put against the fascist’s nape.
“You're surrounded,” the Slavic don informs. “Escape is impossible. You and your group are done.”
“A group?” The threatened country laughs, standing up from the chair. “You make my mafia sound like nothing more than a bunch of misbehaving children. But just a group isn't capable of killing inner members of other mafias. Or are yours so expandable that you forgot it was my men who got rid of Albania and Yugoslavia for you?”
“Keep my inner members’ names out of your mouth before I'll make sure you won't be able to say anyone else’s,” he nudges the pistol further into Reich’s nape.
The fascist laughs again. “I’m a dead man walking. What's it to me that my words make you upset?”

As Theresa gathered the soiled clothes belonging to Henry and her uncle, her gaze snagged on Henry’s journal, its spine protruding halfway from his bag. She lingered, staring at it, torn between respecting his privacy and surrendering to curiosity. After a moment’s hesitation, she yielded, gently tugging the journal free. Flipping it open, her eyes fell immediately on a handwritten poem.
'Our blacksmith has a romantic soul!' she mused, a flicker of delight warming her cheeks. She read the verses slowly, absorbing each line, until the final stanza left her breathless. Quietly, she closed the journal and returned it to the bag, arranging it precisely as she’d found it.
'Beautiful… but why so sad?' The thought lingered, unanswered, as she turned back to the laundry, the rhythm of scrubbing and rinsing failing to quiet the echo of Henry’s melancholy words.Series
