Summary
Harry blinks, his eyes widening at the implication. Draco smile is still on his face, but it fades the longer Harry stares. Suddenly Draco shifts on his feet, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down as he swallows, and Harry realizes that his lack of response has made Draco unsure. Harry stows away his wand, his hands slightly shaky, and steps forward. He waits carefully to see whether Draco is going to make a joke of this as well, but Draco seems glued to the spot, his eyes traveling across Harry’s face before stopping at his lips.

Now here he is, sat crossed-legged across from Malfoy on the sofa, waiting for Merlin-knows-what devious task he will likely be sent to complete. He wonders for a minute how he could have landed himself in this quandary, and comes to the decision that Hermione is to blame. She had pulled him into this game that she and Malfoy had been playing and, mere minutes later, had disappeared from the common room entirely, along with all the other 8th years.

Malfoy Manor.
Turning, Severus pulled out his wand, intent on appariting away, on returning to Last Landing, to Harry, as quickly as possible. But as he did a cry split the air, the sound of a shrill siren, the noise rending the quiet that had sat heavy over the manor and forest.
Severus’ attempt at apparition failed and he stumbled back, shoved by the wards that had collapsed down on top of him. Of course the Malfoys had an excellent security system.
