“We’re both lucky that Charles doesn’t give a damn about anything but drug busts,” Rio murmurs pointedly. “Neither of us need to go to court for a fucking domestic right now.”
“Oh, please, like any of that would hold up in court,” Agatha scoffs sharply. “That was the most illegal arrest I’ve ever seen, heard of, or been a part of, Special Agent.”
Rio glares at her. “Actually, it was quite legal. You physically assaulted a government agent.” Rio pauses, narrowing her eyes as she adds, “twice.”
“Maybe next time don’t lean into a purps car,” she advises with a light shrug. Rio stares at her, lip steadily bleeding. Shifting on her feet, Agatha clears her throat and tosses her hands in the air. Agatha looks at her as if to say, ‘what can you do?’.
“And then you bit me. . .?”

“Compliant?” Rio stood slowly, her eyes never leaving Agatha’s face. The action put her inches away, her body heat radiating out, searing Agatha’s skin. “Obedient?”
Agatha’s hips shifted against her will, her lips parting slightly. She closed her eyes against the heady mortification that razed through her chest. She felt Rio move closer and she parted her legs without thought.
Rio stepped between them but didn’t touch, hands settling on the desk inches from Agatha’s hips and hands.
“You always were such a brat.” Rio’s breath was hot against Agatha’s ear, her voice throaty and raw and filthy. “You never knew how to do what you were told.”
Or: After five years away, a still-grieving Agatha is dragged back into the FBI and the arms of her ex-wife.

Summary
History professor Carson Shaw is in Rockford, Illinois to do research into the women who worked at the local factory during World War II. While she's there, she takes up with Greta Gill, captain of the local roller derby team. Along the way, she meets a ninety-five-year-old Max Chapman who opens her eyes about what was actually going on back in the forties.
Carson stumbled out of the warehouse in a daze. She'd spent the entire jam on the edge of her seat as the crowd cheered whenever the Peaches' jammers scored points and booed whenever the Comets scored. It was so much more visceral than the generally weak cheering that happened back at her home rink. In Bosie, they played at a dilapidated skating rink on the edge of town. Even if people had wanted to come watch, there wouldn't have been enough space to house them. It all seemed amateurish in comparison to what she had just seen. Was it even worth it to try to get on the team? Was she good enough? She wasn't sure.
