Summary
New Orleans is in an uproar over the content of the invitations to the wedding of Miss Charlotte Morningstar, Lucius Aurelius Morningstar's only daughter. Such an event, which would have never gone unnoticed, has the city in chaos for three reasons:
I. She is to be married in the segregated church, in spite of her family's abolitionist history
II. She is to be married in June, not December, though her close friends all knew of her preference
III. Most shocking of all: she is not marrying Alastor De la CroixSeries

As a longtime follower of this author, I recommend everything and anything she writes, even if it's from a fandom you've never seen or heard of in your life. In this case, this delectable piece of worldbuilding on The Swan Princess. Even if you're a fan of the sequels, you'll enjoy the changes.

“That’s it, I quit,” Gordafarid whispered.
Mastani smothered her laugh. “What does that make you, the fourth tutor?”
“The fifth. It’s been less than a year,” moaned Gordafarid. “We are Amazons, we aren’t meant for the nursery. I’m sure Diana will be perfectly pleasant to teach once she’s reached the age of reason, but now…”
“Shall we begin to hope some iron-willed governess dies on the field of battle with a goddess’s name on her lips?”
A few glimpses at the comedy and drama of Diana's revolving door of tutors.

Diana is tutored - or at least, that's what her well- meaning parade of tutors intends.

This. This is what Twilight should have been. I spent most of 2022 reading and rereading this story, and melded so much with it *I* got a migraine. I hate Twilight, I hate Smeyer's style, but Audreyii's writing is compelling even though the narrative barrier of mimicking her style. I would eat this fic for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Howl's fantastic point of view throughout the book. If you think you love him now - you're wrong. You need Demonologue to tell you just how much sheer goodness and genuine wit and silly, sentimental greatness really is in Howell Jenkins. His repartee with Calcifer is excellent, and meeting all the old the characters through his point of view - Lettie sans the filter of sisterly love, Mrs. Pentstemmon without the narrative barrier of Sophie's reverence - is incredible. You will love them all, perhaps more, once you've walked a mile in Howl's pompous shoes.
