Summary
“I still have time to get you to the jet,” he says, voice a strange mixture of resignation and hope, like he can’t decide what to prepare for: the possibility that she’ll tell him to take her to the jet and leave or the option where she stays.
So she slips her sunglasses off her head and slides them on. “Just drive, Hotch.”
He smiles a barely there smile–the first she’s seen in weeks–and flips the indicator right, towards Quantico and home. “Yes, ma’am.”
There’s a moment of silence before JJ breaks it.
“We are stopping for snacks, right?”
(Or, Season 4 AU: When Hotch decides to take the car back to Quantico because of his hyperacusis, JJ decides that's not a trip he should take alone.)

Summary
Jennifer “JJ” Jareau was born into privilege — heiress to the Jareau Global Media empire, raised under the flashing lights of tabloids that call her The Blonde Widow, a title she loathes. In the world’s eyes, she’s untouchable: PR queen, high-society socialite, and the face of an empire.
Aaron Hotchner has built a quieter kind of power. Once a BAU agent, he now runs a private crisis security and intelligence firm. The press calls him The Quiet Executor — ruthless in results, unreadable in presence.
They aren’t supposed to meet. Not like this. Not in the anonymity of a hotel bar, where JJ is on the edge of announcing her engagement and Hotch is still married to Haley. They don’t know the full truth of each other’s lives. Maybe they don’t want to.
It’s just one night — a collision neither of them can explain, one they’ll never speak of again. But it’s the kind of night that lingers, a scar and a secret, reshaping everything that follows.

Summary
“You’ve never been desperate, have you?” Reid asks, not looking away from the deck of cards he's shuffling for a second, firmly gazing down at his hands. Aaron has a feeling that he doesn’t need to look at all, but that the motion is calming.
“I’ve been desperate,” Hotch replies simply.
“No, you haven’t,” Reid bites back. “Not the sort of desperate that drives good people to gamble.”
or: Aaron Hotchner takes a nineteen year old gambler from the slums of Vegas, and carefully pulls him into a life worthy of his genius.
