“Hey!” Marc yelps, pulling the coat back. “What are you doing?!”
“What am I doing? Making sure you don’t bleed all over my car!”
“I said I’m fine!”
“Oh yeah?” He gives a hard tug, nearly jerking Marc sideways.” You don’t mind if I make sure, right?”
“Jake, let go, you’re going to rip it!”
“You let go!” Grabbing the fabric with both hands, he gives one last tug, and the coat slips, exposing what the man was hiding.
Jake’s jaw drops.

“Wow, I see your affinity for names hasn’t changed from when you were young.”
“I don’t want to hear that from someone who names his fish Gus and Not-Gus.”

“Daddy!”
Peter sets his tools down and glances behind him to see a girl with lilac skin and curly platinum hair that was messily tied in a ponytail. Peter fondly rolls his eyes at the sight of it. After all these years, the girl’s father was still awful at hairdos.
He holds out his arms just as she runs into him with a giggle. He laughs with her, placing her onto his hip. “How’s my River Lily? Being a terror to your father?”
She grins, giggling in the way that Peter knows she’s up to no good. “I got Father’s treasure.” She whispers loudly, nearly vibrating out of her skin to show him.
Peter tilts his head. “Ok, I’ll bite, whatcha got?”
His eyes nearly flew out of their sockets when she reached into her pocket and showed him a couple of infinity stones in her hands. “Aster Meredith Titan!”

Xia Fei has always been a simple person and while time has sketched him in bolder strokes, it has also made his imagery more reliant. Driven out of his mind with starvation, teetering at the edge of insanity, Xia Fei does the only thing his clouded mind can think of that does not involve the direct assassination of innocent civilians. A sunflower intuitively turning towards the light, he reaches out instinctually towards his sun. He isn’t even aware his fingers have pressed down on Vein’s contact number until he hears a familiar voice filtering out of his phone’s speaker.
“Felix? What is it?”
“Boss….” Xia Fei's mouth moves though he does not remember moving it. His voice a hazy and petulant whine played through walls of electrified water and static. He always feels so childish when faced with Vein, like a puppy begging at his heels for attention. “I’m dying, come save me, Boss.”
Xia Fei is a foolish young college student who's secretly a vampire and maybe Vein already knew this all along.
