Summary
In the year 34 ABY, the New Republic is still attempting to right the wrongs committed by the Empire. The young, charismatic senator from Yavin 4, Poe Dameron, is on a path to become First Senator, and is largely influential in the votes surrounding the rebuilding of the Republic in the post-Imperial galaxy.
When a threat against his life arises, Luke Skywalker sends a young Jedi to be Poe's bodyguard; the senator is hesitant to accept help at first, but he eventually falls for the young, bright-eyed woman who swore an oath to protect the galaxy, and to reject romantic love.
Their connection ignites a spark that neither is willing or able to put out - a dangerous reality for a Jedi who already struggles with the call of the Dark.

Summary
Not that he loved Finn. There was no way he could love someone he'd spoken to for all of ten minutes, no matter how lifechanging those minutes proved to be.
He loved the feeling of it all. The thrill, the novelty, the rush. Everything he'd shared with Finn had been more exciting than the rest of his life put together, and his life had been far from sedate.
That's what he told himself, anyway.

Finn could live with the fact that he’s dating the most charming, overachieving asshole on this rock. And he knows they’re all living on borrowed time. The Resistance at least holds the promise of a better future, of hope. And it holds Poe Dameron, which for Finn is pretty nearly the same. But even in the midst of this thing with Poe — discovering what makes him laugh and what makes his voice drop low and rough, learning how to be himself and part of another person at the same time — the headaches test his patience.
Finn and Poe guide each other through the war, and what comes after.
