Eggman huffs and moves closer, opening his hands to show a small black and red ball covered in quills. "I don't know what exactly happened, but my idiot robots were showing him around when an old prototype went off."
"He?" Sonic frowns again, taking a closer look at the ball. Only when he recognizes the pattern of red streaks in the quills does he look up at the man in horror. "Is that Shadow?!"

Sonic has been ignoring the warning signs of something wrong until a brutal blow from Shadow during a surprise ambush seems to cut the last of the strings holding him up. As the dust settles and the pain builds, Sonic realizes this isn’t just battle damage, and something is deeply, terrifyingly wrong. Shadow might’ve gone too far to take it back.
