Remus Lupin is orphaned by the pox when he is just eight. He is sent to live in the small village of Godric's Hollow with his relatives - the Evanses - where he grows up alongside his cousins; Lily, Petunia, Kitty, and Lydia. It is, by all reasonable accounts, a peaceful existence.
But then the news spreads that Peverell House has been let at last, to one Mr. James Potter.
He brings with him Mr. Sirius Black; extremely haughty, exceedingly arrogant, and monstrously rich - so, naturally, Remus is given to a violent and immediate hatred of the man.
Black's sentiments, however, are of rather the opposite nature.

He should have guessed, he thought savagely. Yesterday for lunch she had a scotch egg slathered with sriracha hot sauce - hardly a conventional choice, and not the type of thing Mycroft Holmes would usually miss.
“My replacement.” Anthea slid a worryingly thin dossier across the desk.
“I suppose she comes highly recommended?”
“Not really.” Anthea sniffed. “She’s inexperienced, poor, and a bit annoying, to be honest.”

Remus’ eyes met Sirius’ over the cookie, and he grinned. There were crumbs on his jumper — a hideous woolen thing, incidentally, and one that Sirius wouldn’t ever dream of replacing — and for a moment Sirius contemplated plucking one from the fibres of the woollen monstrosity, just to have an excuse to touch Remus.
But eating a crumb off your best mate’s jumper violates certain boundaries; boundaries that Sirius has been working increasingly hard to observe these past months.
Some of his torment must have shown in his face, because Remus quirked a questioning eyebrow at Sirius, his mouth and tongue doing sinful things to his fingers — ostensibly in the name of licking them clean.
“Alright, Pads?”
Sirius blinked. He had been doing that thing again, he knew. That thing where he stared at Remus like a starving man might stare at a perfectly-cooked restaurant steak. One with those delectable grill-lines and the slightest hint of pink juiciness in the middle.
Damn, now Sirius was aroused 𝘢𝘯𝘥 hungry.

He moved across the grounds swiftly, the ache in his muscles weren't bothering him as bad when he focused his mind on this delicious prey. The werewolf came to a stop next to the pretend wizard, his heavy boots crushing the grass beneath them. He crouched down beside the seventeen year old, a pleased purr ripping itself from his throat as he spoke, causing his voice to come out deeper, "Hello, Pup."

“You must be Remus,” Sirius said warmly, holding out his hand. His accent was so unbelievably posh that Remus felt like he was talking to a member of the Royal family. He wouldn’t be surprised if Sirius Black had some royal blood in him, although he doubted Sirius was the type to go on Ancestry.com, if the rumors about his relationship to his family were true.
Remus nearly tripped over his own feet as he rushed over to shake. The corner of Sirius’ lips twitched but he didn’t let himself smile. Remus felt his cheeks tinge pink. It really was distracting how good-looking Sirius was. “Very nice to meet you, sir,” Remus said as evenly as possible.
“Sir?” Sirius asked, quirking an eyebrow. “My, my, how formal.”
