"Archons... talk about a storm." Wriothesley joked, trying to move on from such a serious topic that he honestly did not want to deal with. Neuvillette didn't respond, looking towards the tall window with glassy eyes. The duke took notice of this and, clearing his throat, "If now.. really isn't a good time... I'll just come back later."
"Everything is fine." Neuvillette responded, though rather quietly. Wriothesley could hear the slight tremble in his voice.
"...Yep." The duke rolled his eyes, not believing the Iudex's words. "So- what happened?"
That was probably the wrong move, given how he only received an icy glare. God he was bad at dealing with these types of situations. What the shit.
Or: Neuvillette doesn't want to talk about his feelings, and Wriothesley doesn't want to say anything, but he can't not be awkward around a man that's on the verge of tears, so they talk.

Al’Haitham’s face was a bright red as he reached to smack Kaveh on the head. He didn’t quite get there, considering the ride started again unexpectedly with a long creeeaak, followed by a quiet shriek.
“Oh my god- you-” Kaveh started, catching his breath. “Are you afraid of heights?!”
“Shut up. No I’m not.” Al’Haitham diverted his eyes, his cheeks and ears slightly pinkish, but Kaveh’s gaze was fixed firmly on his roommate again, though this time with a large grin.

Homecoming AU.
Ben and May divorced before Peter’s parents died, so when Ben is murdered Peter goes into foster care. It takes just a tiny taste of superpowers for Peter to decide he doesn’t want to put up with his horrible foster father anymore—the streets are infinitely more appealing. All he wants is to be Spider-Man anyway.
So he leaves.
Simple.
Simple, that is, until Iron Man needs Spider-Man’s help. Peter isn’t about to turn down an opportunity to fight alongside Tony Freaking Stark, but he also isn’t going to let his hero know that his recruit is a fifteen-year-old homeless dropout. So they strike a deal. Peter will help Tony. In return, the mask stays on.
And that’s when things get complicated.
