Jennifer Jareau captured Emily Prentiss's heart the moment they met, and no matter how hard Emily tried she couldn't shake away the feeling. She knew that JJ wouldn't feel the same so when they met William LaMontagne Jr. in New Orleans, Emily convinced JJ to go for him. As she watched JJ take her advice, her heart broke but she knew it was for the best.
For years JJ was with Will, and she was happy for the most part but she felt something was missing. She couldn't put her finger on it until Emily moved to London to run Interpol that she realised Emily was what was missing. She thought Emily didn't feel the same otherwise she wouldn't have pushed her to Will all those years ago.
Years later William and JJ have divorced. Will the girls admit their feelings to each other, or has to much time come between them and their feelings.

And Meredith, with her big eyes and her warm hands guiding Addison to lean against her shoulder, invites her over for dinner. (And in moments like this, when all that surrounds Addison is the soft smell of lavender, she almost understands.)
