Summary
Jonathan Sims does not know how to take care of himself. Martin Blackwood is so used to taking care of people who don’t love him back that he doesn’t even have to think about it anymore.
When the worms come, Jon cares, and Martin is there. When they come again, more and worse, Jon hurts. And Martin is still there.The first part of a series that will cover the entirety of canon—this is the season one section.

Summary
Bucky Barnes may have been awake for more of "modern times" than his best friend, but he wasn't exactly keeping up with things until recently. If there's one thing he's learned, it's that he can't expect *anything* to be the same. But somehow, he keeps doing just that. When he realizes he has feelings for his new partner-in-crime ("It is crime," he has to keep explaining to people. "This is technically vigilantism. It's illegal."), he's confident that if there's one thing that'll be the same, it will be that a man loving another man is "unnatural."
Apparently, he's wrong about that one, too.

Summary
The voice that spoke up was deep and smooth, mouth shaping around the words with sharp edges and a taciturn disposition that Martin had never heard before. It seems that the Archivist and his Temple were to forever keep Martin on his toes when it came to expectations.
“Listen, I understand that you’re here to fulfill some great duty to your city by sacrificing yourself to me, but I really don’t have the time. Let’s just rain check it this time and we can start it up again in the next two years when I don’t have very important business to handle.” Still the Archivist had not looked up at Martin.
Martin’s eyes rose in disbelief, brow already furrowing. There was no way he heard that right, right? “Excuse me?”

Summary
After the end of the end of the world, Jon and Martin end up in the same place the Entities do—which is to say, everywhere. The problem is, they’ve never been everywhere before, and it’s not as easy as it looks. While they would very much like to help the innumerable worlds that they doomed to the predation of the Dread Powers, they don’t have much practice at influencing reality through spooky books, monsters, or spacetime manipulation. That doesn’t mean they don’t try their best.
Elsewhere, in one of these innumerable worlds, Jon finds a book. It tells him to fall in love, and also, to invest in a cement mixer.

“Please forgive me,” Jon breathed. “If you’re still alive… if… if you hear this. Get as far away from the Magnus Institute-”
Something moved in the darkness behind him, and Jon tried to gasp but there was a hand over his mouth blocking the sound, fingers pinching his nose shut so he couldn’t even hiss in a breath of fear.
Strong arms pulled him backward, farther into shadows that should not have been there, and before he could even think about fighting a voice hissed in his ear. “Calm down! It’s me.”

Summary
Jon hadn’t anticipated just how quiet it would be at Daisy’s cottage. He definitely hadn’t anticipated how that quiet settles something inside of him, like balm on an injury he didn’t know he had. He’d thought the lack of human presence would make him more aware of the loss still sitting in the pit of his stomach, heavy and solid, but it’s … it’s nice to have the space to process things. To know that he’s currently alone by choice, not by happenstance, and that he has the freedom to just be. Jon lets the solitude envelop him like a weighted blanket, warm and comfortable and safe.
It’s a few days later when he first meets the man who pets the cows.

Following the loss of his grandmother, Jon takes a sabbatical and moves up to northern Scotland to stay in Daisy's cabin and study the religious culture of the village near it. There, he meets Martin, his apparent and unwanted neighbor who makes odd jokes and seems to exist solely to ruin Jon's attempts at finally getting some peace and quiet. But as Jon spends more time with Martin, he begins to warm up to him and, as time goes on, to fall in love with him.
It just takes him a bit to realize that the man he's fallen in love with is a god.
