Summary
Thomas Lawrence left his role at the Vatican behind a while ago, it was turning him grey too fast. Now he's running his little church in the countryside, helping with the parish council. This is until disgraced ex-Cardinal Vincent Benítez, a man Thomas hadn't known existed, shows up on his doorstep shivering like a dog, exiled from Rome by the new Pope who clearly knows something about Benítez that Thomas does not.
Thomas opens up his church to Vincent, his home, his heart.

This Thomas reminds me so much of the grumpy priest of a small Catholic church in Scotland we met by chance when I was visiting a friend in the Highlands. Hilarious. I also love a more carefree Vincent with all his charm.
